Mayor's Welcome

Welcome to the City of Wolf Point’s web site. As you view the pages, our sincere hope is that you will come to know us in person. If you chose our community as your home, you will be living in the “Last Best Place In Montana”. We are a Certified City and an Enterprise Community.

Our community is located on the beautiful Missouri River. We are no small town for north eastern Montana. If you look at the latest census, we show a population of 2,801. That is very misleading. When we take into account all of the residential homes and businesses, immediately adjacent to our city limits, that we provide city services, our population is close to 3,950 warm, caring constituents. We are the county seat for Roosevelt County.

We have an active Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, an active local economic development group called Missouri Valley Development Corporation plus we headquarter our six county region economic development group called Great Northern Development Corporation. We are very fortunate to have several major district offices located in our community, the US Postal Service, the Montana Department of Transportation,  United Parcel Service, Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. and our County government. Our community has two major banks, a credit union plus numerous customer orientated businesses.

If transportation is an issue, don’t worry. We are located on US Highway 2. Burlington Northern serves our agricultural business community plus Amtrak boards train passengers here daily. Cape Air, an Essential Air Service provider, was recently awarded a new 4 year contract to service not only Wolf Point, but also Glasgow, Glendive, Havre, and Sidney with connections to the Billings hub.

We are extremely proud of our education system which has three elementary schools and a junior high/high school. Fort Peck Community College has  a campus in our community. Northeast MT Health Services (formerly Trinity Hospital) , Listerud Rural Health Clinic,  Faith Home, Indian Health Service, Wolf Point Dental Clinic and Roosevelt County Vision Clinic offer the best of medical care and nursing home facilities. Our community offers a large choice of religious worship.

We are host to the annual Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede which has been one of the best rodeos in our state since 1921.

Our swimming pool will receive an upgrade this summer due to a grant from the Land, Water & Conservation Fund, and fund s from a voter approved General Obligation Bond, as well as funds from the Fort Peck Tribes.  We've very proud of our Borge Park complex,  golf course.  In addition their are many outdoor  activities provided to us by the Missouri River and Fort Peck Damn, which offers a visitor to our area a multitude of recreational opportunities too numerous to mention.

We pride ourselves as the friendliest most diverse group of people in Montana. We hope as you browse through this web site, you will learn more about us and long to become part of our community.
