City Judge/Court
Under the title of General Government, there are offices that provide administrative, legal, financial/accounting, and judicial services.
As per MCA, Section 3-1-205, the Wolf Point City Council has designated the Justice of the Peace of Roosevelt County to act as the City Judge for the City of Wolf Point for the duration of the justice’s term as Justice of the Peace, which is a term of 4 years.

The City Judge directs and administers the Wolf Point City Court activities as prescribed under the direction of the Montana Supreme Court and the statutes of the State of Montana. Individual judgment and difficult decision making are required on a continual and consistent basis. The City Judge must be certified by the Montana Supreme Court, meet continuing education requirements, and shall attend all mandatory State required training courses.
The primary function of the office of City Judge is to arraign defendants on misdemeanor charges including both traffic and criminal charges. The City Judge also holds jury and non-jury trials, conducts hearings, sentences defendants, performs various official functions and supervises a Clerk in the office.
The Court’s purpose is to promote justice and, thus, serve the public’s interest. The Court is to provide the public with a Judiciary that is fair, impartial, and administers justice according to the law, proper rules of evidence, and rules of procedure. It is also a goal to develop an efficient court system and to devise court procedures that provide speedy and equal justice for all persons.
