Tree City USA

Tree City USA

The City of Wolf Point first received designation as a Tree City USA in 2004 and was again designated in 2006. To become a Tree City USA, cities and towns must meet the standards of the TREE CITY USA program. Those standards include: 1) A Tree Board or Department; 2) a community tree ordinance; 3) a community forestry program with an annual budget of at least $2 per capita; and an Arbor Day Observance and Proclamation. Over the past two years, the City of Wolf Point has met those standards and is continuing to meet those standards and applies for recertification each year. Using grants funds and in-kind services, the City of Wolf Point recently completed an inventory of all the city’s trees recording their location, type and condition. This inventory will be utilized in the future to determine the maintenance and replacement of trees around the City of Wolf Point. Arbor Day Celebrations are held during the month of May.

Montana Superhost Certified Community

Through the Montana Dept. of Commerce the City of Wolf Point has received the designation as a “Montana SuperHost Certified Community. In order to become a Montana SuperHost Certified Community, the city had to develop and initiate a plan to provide on-going Montana SuperHost customer service training , provide for a local visitor center and develop tourism materials that lists attractions and visitor services available in the area. The Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and the Local Job Service actively participate in this program. Each certified Montana SuperHost community received “Montana SuperHost Friendly” highway signs to welcome visitors and direct them to a visitor information center.
